Burris Windows Prices

Price wise, Burris is going to be somewhere in the 5 to 7 out of 10 range when you compare them to all vinyl window manufacturers. However, window price quotes come from local companies, who are free to bid out their projects at any price point that they see fit.

This is, of course, why we recommend that homeowners collect a handful of bids. This insures that you get to see a number of different window models and options. Also, you will receive multiple price quotes that will hopefully provide you with the fair market value for your project.

Tectview vs Apex Energy

Hi John, I’d love your unbiased expert opinion about Apex (Great Day). Also, I’m looking at NT Traditions through a local established company. Apex targeted my home for a “promotional” house in an upscale market they are somewhat new to in North Texas. If the window quality/craftmanship and installation of both company’s is equal my assessment is this:

Apex “promotion” pricing is about 10 - 20% less. Also, their window meets “most efficient” energy star rating and qualifies for $4,800 in tax savings over the next 8 years. Additionally, they claim a 30-40% decrease in heating/cooling costs (potentially $1,000 a year for my house). Lastly, they offer no interest financing for 24 months (other guy 18 months)

We have a EIFS stucco home built in ‘96 and the NT windows will fit into the existing window system that’s recessed into the frame of the house. So ,the Apex system retrofits their frame into the existing one which results in the viewing more vinyl than what we have now or what NT window will produce. Not a huge deal for me but annoying for my wife.

Is there any advice you have based on your knowledge of these 2 Windows, my stucco house and cost value analysis I’ve done so far? So, is the Apex promotional sales offers a gimmick or are they really as great a deal as they seem? Final question, I promise - should I consider Burris windows. I've heard decent things about their TectView series.

TK, Apex sells a good window all in all. I don't love their marketing approach, but are legit from everything I know about them. I would put the Apex Insignia slightly above the NT Traditions in terms of overall quality. So I think the Apex makes a lot more sense in this head to head.

UNLESS - are you saying that NT is going to do a full frame / new construction install - in this case then it's tougher to make the call because that process is much more expensive and does give you more viewing area. However, full frame installation in stucco is problematic in my opinion because they have to take out some stucco on the surround and then patch it after.

Color matching stucco is a fine art that can go wrong. (I almost think that new construction window replacement in stucco should always be combined with home painting, which is a huge hit to the pocketbook.) Bottom line is I think Apex is the winner. However, I would still collect two more bids myself for my four bid total and then make the decision (but that's just my four bid mantra) :)

Burris is a decent option as well. Additionally, their TectView series is a solid window - obviously it's going to depend on the overall price quote.
