Best Rated Patio Doors

I'm going to profile what I consider to be the best rated patio doors and sliders available in the United States. Of course, not all of these brands will be available in every zip code. However, I will try and indicate the states and/or regions that these will be available for purchase through local window and door dealers.

Finally, it's probably worth noting that of course there are additional good and great sliders out there. These are simply my top picks for the best patio doors - so don't take this as a comprehensive list. If you would like to add to the discussion, please do so by sending us your patio door reviews using the email below.

Best Rated Patio Doors

ProVia Endure Patio Slider

ProVia makes some of the best patio sliders around. Windows as well, but they really shine with their doors (both patio and entry). Generally, these well built, low tolerance doors are available in 2, 3, or 4 panels, are all vinyl, and all very well insulated.

Additionally, consumers can choose from double or triple pane glass, interior woodgrain options, and an array of exterior paint colors. The ProVia Endure also comes with a BetterVue fiberglass mesh screen. Consumers can expect great performance data out of their patio sliders.

Okna Elegante 8800 Patio Slider

Okna is my number one window company and certainly makes one of the best rated patio doors company in the business. These are very well built, low tolerance patio doors that are thermally welded, insulated, and double weatherstripped. Additionally, these have an interlocking and reinforced meeting rail, anodized aluminum screen, HeatSeal spacer. Lastly, Okna Windows offers some great hardware options and upgrades for some of the best looking patio sliders on the market today.

Soft-Lite Kingroyal Patio Doors

Soft-Lite is an excellent brand for both windows and patio doors. Their Kingroyal Patio Door is energy efficient and incorporates some great features in its design. These include a quality dual locking system, a slim looking sash and frame, triple-fin weatherstripping, R-5 ComfortFoam, Aullure handles, and a metal reinforced sash.

Polaris ThermalWeld Select Patio Doors

Polaris is probably not as well known as the brands that I just mentioned, but they are nonetheless very high quality. Their ThermalWeld Select patio doors incorporate quality foam filled extrusions, a reinforced sloped sill, foot dead bolt, zinc-plated rollers, Intercept Spacer, and some great hardware and component upgrades and options.

Best Rated Patio Doors: Honor Mention

There are quite a number of additional options available for good to great patio doors. Here are a few more I have to mention: MI V5500 Restoration, the Ideal Victorian door, the Anlin Malibu Patio Slider, and the Vinylmax High Pointe door.

Additionally, brands that I like and endorse (for both windows and patio sliders) include PGT, Sunrise, Vytex, Harvey, Champion, Wincore, Amerimax, Wincore, and Simonton.

Patio Door Cost Quote

Hello Dane, I'm in Texas and we are estimating the finished exterior door to be around $3500 by Anlin. NT doors was a bit less at $3100. So, what do you think of these prices? Fair or should I keep looking? What are the best rated patio doors in your opinion?

Website Editor's Answer

Dominique, those are pretty standard price points for those brands generally speaking. Honestly, when it comes to doors, I would collect three to four additional bids to get an overall picture of what you can expect price-wise. More than window prices, patio doors and slider can vary widely in terms of what they cost

Best Patio Doors and Sliders

Hi John, I just watched your video, Best Rated Patio Doors and Slider in the US. Thank you for such helpful information. Trying to find windows/doors is so overwhelming! I’m going through a remodel and am looking for a slider for my dining room out to the screened porch. My contractor confirmed size, 60 x 80. My house is a 1950’s colonial with a lot of typical wood moulding. Out of all the companies you reviewed would you recommend one that would seem like a good match for the aesthetic look of my colonial? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

While I don’t need to have a wood slider (my new windows are wood in the inside and vinyl outside), I do want one that has a very small frame, mostly glass where I can choose an oil rubbed bronze door handle and not clunky looking. Also, I’m not a big fan of sliders as I imagine those metal clunky sliders of the 70’s with large handles, yuk! I have reviewed many contempary patio doors, but most are either super expensive, too contemporary or don’t work — because my space is small I opted for a slider.
