Average Window Replacement Cost

The average window replacement cost will vary according to the size, frame material and number of upgrades and options required for the home. For the purposes of price, we will assume a mid range window model and brand, standard sized double hung window (think 28" wide and 38" high) with standard installation. Making all of these assumptions is important because there are so many variables that play into the per window price (bids will vary tremendously based on contractor/company alone). The average price range for a replacement window is $350 to $800 fully installed.

Sunrise Restorations vs Okna 700

I have two bids on 22 double hung casements. $14,250 for the Sunrise Restorations and $17,200 for the Okna 700. I like the like and feel of the Okna more. Is the price difference worth it?

Website Editor's Answer

Bob, I really both of these windows, two of the best on the market. Honestly, they are pretty darn even so I'd have to go with the Sunrise Restorations. However, if you can go back to the Okna rep and ask him to come down on the price, then it might make it more of a horse race as they say.

Alside Mezzo vs Zen Nirvana

I recently got 2 bids, 13 windows, 2 patio doors and one 1 garden window. The first bid is for the Alside Mezzo Series and is $13,500 total. The other is the Zen Nirvana (Soft-Lite Classic window) and is $15,100 total. Of those two, which would you recommend?
Michele - Homeowner - July 5, 2016

Website Editor's Answer

Michelle, the Alside Mezzo is not a bad window by any means, but it's not as good as the Zen Nirvana model. If it were me, I'd definitely opt for the Soft-Lite Classic over the Alside Mezzo. Please make sure that the Zen franchise receives solid reviews on their installation and quality. This is a very important part of the process as well.

Sunrise Restorations Window Costs

I am buying 40 replacement casements, sized 36" x 64". It's either the Okna 700 Deluxe or the Sunrise Restoration. The Okna 700 is cheaper at $22k, while the Sunrise Restoration is $25K.

Website Editor's Answer

Rich, the Restorations uses a thinner frame that homeowners really like. I actually like the look of Okna a bite better and give them the nudge for performance and overall quality of construction. This is a good problem to have though, each of these windows is fantastic! And it looks to me like the replacement window pricing you received is quite competitive.

Okna 700 Prices vs Vytex Fortis Costs

I got a bid for 22 windows - the first was $14,500 for the Vytex Fortis, and the second was $12,000 for Okna 700 window. Which is the best buy?

Samuel - Homeowner - June 18, 2016

Website Editor's Answer

Samuel, the Okna 700 casement is the better option of the two. The Vytex Fortis is a good window, but not as good a window as the Okna. The fact that the Okna bid is lower should make this an east decision.
