Sunrise Vanguard Windows Reviews

The Sunrise Vanguard window is nearly identical to the Sunrise window, along with several very nice upgrades that come standard. I would say that the Vanguard is an excellent vinyl window that very nearly rivals their high end Restorations model.

The Vanguard window series comes with all of the upgrades on the Sunrise Verde window, along with a recessed locking mechanism and fibercore reinforced sash. Unlike the Restorations, the Vanguard uses separate tilt buttons.

As is true of any of the sunrise window models, consumers can choose from a variety of exterior and interior frame color options (including 6 different interior wood laminate options), as well as some great hardware options (including 3 upgrade metal hardware materials). There are also a number of different glass packages, grids, screens and blind options to choose from as well.

Sunrise Vanguard Ratings

The Sunrise Vanguard window, with a low-e glass, argon fills, foam fill insulation and grids (VG glass package), will deliver a U-factor of 0.26, an SHGC of 0.24, 0.03 air infiltration, and a VT of 0.44.

An upgrade to the VG3 glass package, which includes a better low-e glass, will improve these numbers to a 0.22 U-factor, 0.20 SHGC, 0.03 air infiltration, and a 0.37 VT. These are excellent performance numbers and are indicative of the overall quality and construction of the Sunrise Vanguard window.

Sunrise Vanguard Window Warranty

The Sunrise Vanguard comes with a Limited Lifetime warranty that covers the frame, sash, IGU, hardware, balances, and screens. Vinyl frame paint colors and finishes come with a 20 year warranty provision against peeling, cracking and blistering, along with a 10 year provision on excessive fading.

The Sunrise warranty is transferrable to a subsequent owner - the new owner must notify the company in writing of the transfer and must pay the $50 transfer fee to Sunrise (pretty typical requirements in the industry). The Sunrise warranty is pretty straight forward and is very solid. There are limitations and exclusions that apply so make sure you read the document in full prior to purchase.

Sunrise Vanguard vs. Polaris

Which are the better windows, Polaris or sunrise vanguard?

Michelle - Homeowner - February, 2021

Website Editor's Answer

Michelle, the Sunrise Vanguard and Restorations series are comparable to the Polaris UltraWeld. The Sunrise "standard" window is probably comparable to the Polaris ThermalWeld. Both very quality brands.

Sunrise - Standard vs Vanguard?

Thanks!

Jenny - Homeowner - June, 2020

Website Editor's Answer

Sorry for the delay Jenny, I was on vacation with my family and did not have access to the pdf available. Here is the window cost sheet. The Vanguard is the Sunrise Standard window with the fibercore reinforced sash, separate tilt buttons and the recessed lever lock. I really like the Sunrise Standard, but definitely like the upgrades offered on the Vanguard series.

Sunrise Vanguard vs Zen Nirvana

Hi Jon, I have two very close quotes for 11 windows 59" x 35" plus a sliding patio door of 80" x 59"

Sunrise Vanguard with a Provia sliding door

or

Zen Nirvana soft-lite with a Dharma sliding door

They are both selling at approximately $8600

Which do you recommend ? Would you say that it is a good price?

Rino - Homeowner - March, 2020

Website Editor's Answer

Rino, the Sunrise Vanguard and ProVia door is the much better window/door combination over the Zen Nirvana/Dharma combination. Assuming the installation company is the same, the Sunrise / ProVia combo is the one I would go with without a doubt.
