Soft-Lite Barrington Windows Reviews

The Soft-Lite Barrington window is one of the entry-level vinyl window models offered by the company. While not considered a great window like the Soft-Lite Elements window, the Barrington is still one of our selections for the best "cheap replacement windows" on the market.

The Barrington window come standard with a constant force balance system, double weatherstripping, a simple exterior molding look, and a simple lock and tilt latch. Consumers can order the Barrington in an exterior white, brown, or beige. The same three color options are available on the interior as well.

The bottom line on the Soft-Lite Barrington window is that, while certainly not a star within the Soft-Lite roster of products, it is a good entry level vinyl window.

Barrington Windows Cost

Hey John, I'm sure hoping you can help me. I'm a total novice when it comes to window replacements. I'm replacing some 20 year old aluminum windows whose seals failed and are now cloudy.

The quote I got seems too high to me, but hoping you can help me with that determination. I was told they don't break down the labor vs material costs, so all I have is a total price of $5,555 for 6 windows. Here are the details, which are not the final measurements they will use, but what they use to price and contract.

Barrington Windows

2 windows are 71x35 (106 United Inches) Double Sliders

1 window is a 46x46 (92 United Inches) Picture Window

2 windows are 35x59 (94 United Inches) Double Hung

1 window is a Double Hung 70x35 (105 United Inches)

Insulated Frames and SASH. Argon Gas filled blocking 100% of Weather Hot and Cold (as per demo you witnessed)

Removal of old windows and haul off to dump.factored into window price.

Installation of new windows and clean up .factored into window price.

I am embarrassed to say I caved to some high pressure sales tactics, but have until the 25th of November to cancel. Any insight you have on pricing fairness would be so tremendously helpful!

Thanks in advance,

Zach, sorry I missed your deadline, last week is a travel week for me. I'm not sure this is such a bad deal. I wouldn't say it's a fantastic price, but the Barrington window is a solid performer. If you didn't end up going with these guys and would like to see my list of other good options, let me know and I will send you my list...

Soft-lite Barrington vs. Pella 250 Series

John, thank you for your advice! I’ve decided to go with a local company with great reviews for the Soft-lite Barrington. I prefer the Soft-lite Pro, which is a better window, but it’s a bit over my budget and the thicker frame won’t blend in with my other windows. The Barrington cost me almost $100 less than the Pella 250 (I negotiated a $100 discount), and I’m confident that it’s a better window than Pella.

Paul, while I agree with your that the Soft-lite Pro is the better window over the Soft-lite Barrington model, it is still better IMO than the Pella 250. Good luck to you in your upcoming project!

Barrington Softlite Double Hungs

This summer we replaced 17 windows. We used barrington softlite double hung. I live in Chicago land area. And now that its cold and windy all windows are leaking ice cold air thru upper window slide channel. What can be done to fix this problem.

Bob - Homeowner - February 20, 2017

Website Editor's Answer

Who installed it? I suggest you contact the window company who installed it and have them come out and take a look — if its install related, they should be responsible for it for at least the first year. If its the window itself, they should be able to order slide channels (if that's the problem) from soft-lite and get it refitted.

Your windows are way to "young" to be having issues.
