Silverline 8500 Windows Reviews

Explore Silverline 8500 windows reviews that covers product analysis, pricing, ratings, and general warranty details on this vinyl window. The 8500 is considered Silverline's mid range double hung window, a step below the Silverline 9500 series.

The Silverline 8500 window is a vinyl double hung that comes standard with a tilt in sash, Low-e2 glass, Super Spacer, exterior screen, dual weatherstripping and a constant force balancing system. The standard 8500 window offers just okay numbers - consumers will have to upgrade to the 9500 series for a stronger frame and quality window.

Silverline 8500 Ratings

The Silver line 8500 double hung with Low-e glass and argon fills will get a .34 u-factor, .32 shgc, DP45 and .55 vt rating. I'm not particularly impressed with the .34 U-factor, but not overly surprised by this number.

I think with either the Silverline 8500 vs 9500, consumers should upgrade to a reinforced sill and foam fills in the frame to both reduce the U-factor and increase the overall strength of the window.

Silverline 8500 Warranty

The Silverline 8500 comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty that states that the windows will be free from defects under normal use. This lifetime provision applies to frame, sill(s), components and insulated glass unit. The warranty does cover the cost of the removal or installation on any defective parts or windows.

Unfortunately, the Silverline warranty is non transferrable and applies to the original purchaser owner only. There are a number of restrictions and exclusions that apply, so we urge homeowners to read the 8500 window warranty in full to better understand the terms and specifics.

My 8500 window has moisture in between the panes.i purchased it in 2007. How can I have it repaired or replaced. It's the top window in a double hung window. 36"x 65" is overall window dimension..it's a 6 over 6 grille in between the panes.

Frank, is the window a Silverline? You may be able to get the window replaced by the manufacturer, but you would need to go through the installer (or the company) who you used to put in the window. The other option would be to replace the window using the same manufacturer, but pay for the cost of the replacement. I would call up the company who sells whatevrer brand of window you have and have them come out and give you a bid. They should be able to tell you whether it's an issue the company will cover or whether you are going to have to pay for the replacement.
