Andersen Windows vs Pella

Andersen Windows vs Pella - let's compare and contract these window brands and see which is the winner in our head-to-head match ups. My company summations are as follows.

Andersen Windows And Doors - Andersen is a very well known high end manufacturer of wood-clad window and doors. The company is based out of Minnesota and has been in operation for over 100 years. They sell through local companies and have a presence in all fifty states. Most people I talk to know of Andersen.

Reputation - Andersen enjoys a very good reputation in the industry as a purveyor of high quality wood-clad windows and doors. Andersen is still accessible to many homeowners, unlike really high end manufacturers whose price point is simply out of the reach of most U.S. homeowners.

Pella Windows And Doors - Pella window and doors is one of the better known brands in the industry - possibly as well known as Andersen. Pella has been around for a very long time (since 1925) and they are best known for their wood clad series. Pella makes a very good quality product, however, they are still in the reach of some U.S. homeowners. (But make no mistake, Pella is an expensive buy.)

Reputation - In terms of its reputation, Pella enjoys a very good reputation for high-quality wood cloud windows. Their vinyl and fiberglass windows are, I would say, decent but not great. These tend to be overpriced in my estimation.

Andersen Brand Score: 8.5 (out of 10)

Andersen Windows vs Pella

Jon, I have some price quotes for wood windows. You seem to not be very keen on wood, but I don’t really have a choice as much for my HOA requirements as the overall look of my home, which is in a very nice section of Northern California. I’m trying to compare the Pella lifestyles wood window in the Anderson 200 series. The prices are roughly the same, so I think I’m comparing apples to apples here. They both come out to about $1800 a window, which is I’m not sure whether that is good or bad. Thanks.

Tony, I would probably give the nudge to the Anderson 200 series over the Pella lifestyle. I think it’s a slightly better functioning window, although if I’m remembering this correctly, there are a few less custom options on the 200 than on the Lifestyles. Still, I would rather have, the better made overall window for my home. I think most of these companies make good quality wood clad and you can’t go wrong with either. I don’t love the longevity of wood windows, I can’t argue with their overall beauty. Best of luck to you in your project.
