The Pella Architect wood clad window, also called the Pella 850 series, is another step up in Pella's wood window lines. The Architect uses an aluminum cladding on the exterior and a real wood interior that provides strength and durability, while maintaining the beauty and styling of the wood interior. The Architect is a small step up from the Pella Designer window; it includes all the basics of the Designer Series and adds some nice features and custom options, including better hardware materials, specialty window shapes, as well as more grid and divided light options.
The Architect includes a much better jamb liner than the company's base-wood window ProLine series, which will help create smoother movement in operable window styles such as the casement and double hung. The Architect is also consider a nicer looking window than both the ProLine and the Designer wood option.
The Pella Architect model is not inexpensive, so consumers should be sure that they are comfortable with both the cost and the requirements of wood windows prior to purchasing.

Pella Architect Window Rating
The Pella Architect window with the aluminum cladding and wood interior with a low-e glass and no grids will deliver a .33 U-factor, .46 SHGC, and a .52 VT - these are decent to good performance numbers for a wood window, although they cannot compete with a quality vinyl window.
An upgrade to a slightly better low-e glass package will improve these numbers to .29 U-factor, .28 SHGC, and .51 VT.
