Standard features on the Loewen wood clad window includes a hidden jamb liner, an innovative balance system, tilt in mechanism for easier cleaning, a single handed lock, and a thermal broken aluminum sill. Consumers can choose from either Douglas Fir or a Mahogany wood interior, both of which are treated with a sealant/preservative for a longer shelf life. The window can be ordered in one of four different casing profiles, including Williamsburg, Brickmould, Adams, and Flat.
Consumers can also choose from a number of different hardware options, grids, glass packages, and exterior color options. All in all, the standard Loewen window is one of the best wood clad windows on the market and one that comes in a variety of different options and sizes that is sure to meet any consumers needs. Consumers can expect the Loewen 25 series double hung to get a 55 design pressure rating. Their standard casement window can reach a design pressure as high as 80, which is quite impressive. With the standard glass package, consumers can expect a .35 U-value, .30 SHGC, and .30 VT.
An upgrade to the better glass package will improve these number to .32 U-factor, .25 SHGC, and a .33 VT.
The Loewen warranty covers the frame, insulated glass units and most exterior colors and finishes for 20 years against manufacturing defects. Non-tempered glass is warrantied for 10 years against stress cracks that occur during the manufacturing process.
Laminated glass is covered for 5 years and components such as hardware, locks, and hinges are covered for 10 years. As with all window warranties, the Loewen document includes limitations and exclusions so be sure to read the fine print so that you know exactly what is covered and what is not.
