Amsco Studio Ratings

The window provides less than impressive numbers, the single hung will deliver a U-factor of .34 to .29, SHGC of .31 to .23 and and a visible transmittance of .58 to .54.

The exact performance numbers will be based on the glass packages, option upgrades and features that you opt for. Obviously, upgrades will raise the per square foot cost of the window.

Amsco Studio Warranty

The Amsco Studio offers a limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser on both their windows and patio doors for any product made after July 1, 2009. It covers defects in the manufacturing process for materials or workmanship for all of its vinyl windows. The warranty is transferable, however the new owner is covered for only five years from the date of purchase.

Amsco is not known for the strength of their warranty. In fact, this is one area where the company tends to get knocked. Inquire with the local dealer that you purchase with as to what is covered and what is excluded prior to buying Amsco windows.

AMSCO Studio vs. Milgard Trinsic

Here are 3 quotes. Two for AMSCO Studio. One is with laminated IGU and one with 1/4 over 1/8 glass IGU. One is for Milgard 1/8 over 1/8.

I've read having offset glass helps with reducing sound transfer and with the thicker glass should work better with forced entry with security film.

I'm having forced entry security film applied after installation by another company. Would it be better to have it applied on the thicker outside pane than the inside? Or should I have the thicker pane on the inside for better integrity?

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Website Editor's Answer

Stephen, I would choose the Milgard Trinsic over the Amsco brand any day of the week. Milgard isn't the best in the business, but with professional installation, I would say you will be good to go for a good 20 to 30 years. It looks like the company that puts in the Milgard windows has a very solid reputation/reviews, so I think you should be good to go!
